How to update the firmware on AirPods and Beats devices

Apple sometimes releases firmware updates for their headsets, which include bug fixes and sometimes new features. Unfortunately, there is no place on iOS or macOS where you can go to update the firmware manually, but there are a few tips you can use to ensure that your device gets the firmware update as soon as possible.

How to check the current firmware version

To verify the currently installed firmware version, make sure your headset is connected to an iPhone or iPad, then go to Settings > Bluetooth. Look for your device on the list, then tap the "i" next to it to open the configurations for that device. Scroll all the way down and you'll see a "Version" label displaying the current version of your device's firmware.
