Why does AirBuddy show AirPods while they’re in a closed charging case?
AirPods can continue reporting briefly after you put them in the charging case and close the lid. AirBuddy removes them after the information becomes inactive.
If one or both earbuds remain visible for an extended time, they may not be making a reliable charging connection inside the case. You might also see the same earbud remain in Apple’s Batteries widget.
Try the following steps:
- Remove and reinsert both earbuds, then close the lid.
- Check that both earbuds begin charging.
- Clean AirPods and the charging case by following Apple’s cleaning instructions.
- Install current macOS and AirPods firmware updates.
If an earbud continues to report while the case is closed across the Mac, iPhone, and iPad, contact Apple Support or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
To prevent the automatic AirPods panel temporarily, open AirBuddy settings, select Action HUD, click Choose beside Show Action HUD when, then turn off the nearby AirPods event. You can still assign a shortcut to Show manually.
