Why do I keep receiving "AirPods nearby" and "AirPods connected" notifications?

If you're seeing this notification on your Mac, or a similar one saying that a given AirPods or Beats device is nearby, that's part of the Apple AirPods auto-switching feature, and it has nothing to do with AirBuddy.
